The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones - Review

Yesterday I watched "The Mortal Instruments - City of Bones" and have to admit it was amazing! I never got the chance to see the movie when it was in my local cinema which was disappointing considering I was really looking forward to it but luckily the internet saved me and I finally watched it. I recommend the movie to anybody who likes Sci-Fi/ Fantasy genre movies.

The movie follows teenager and New Yorker Clary Fray who can see people known as 'Shadowhunters' that nobody else can. When her mother is kidnapped she does everything she can to get her back with the help of Jace Wayland. The movie shows the battles she faces while trying to figure out where exactly her mother is being kept. This is the first movie in a series of six.

I have read the book but to be honest I really enjoyed the movie version of the story. Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower were perfect to play Clary and Jace. The director, Harald Zwart, really did a great job at turning such a detailed book into a movie and made it easy to follow the plot. The movie also stars Robert Sheehan who I love from previously watching the TV show "Misfits".

The movie is just over two hours long and I tend to lose interest halfway through movies that are that length but I didn't while watching this.
I haven't read the other books in the series but I definitely want to now, I'm dying to find out what happens next! The movie has received negative reviews from critics but in all fairness this movie is made for fans of the books and/or this movie genre.

If I were to rate this movie out of ten I would give it a definite 9.
I have the trailer above and movie poster below for anybody interested.

Enjoy!
